Safeguarding Policy for Job Skills Training

Effective Date: May 2023

At Job Skills Training ("we," "us," or "our"), we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all individuals who engage with our website and services. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our users, particularly vulnerable individuals. We aim to prevent abuse, neglect, and harm while promoting the well-being and personal development of our users.

1. Legal Framework:

We operate in compliance with the safeguarding laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable in the United Kingdom. This includes but is not limited to the Children Act 1989 and 2004, the Care Act 2014, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

2. Safeguarding Principles:

2.1 Promoting Welfare: We prioritize the welfare and well-being of all individuals, especially vulnerable users, by taking appropriate actions to protect them from abuse, harm, or exploitation.

2.2 Prevention and Risk Assessment: We actively identify and assess potential risks related to safeguarding and take necessary steps to prevent harm or abuse. This includes implementing risk assessment procedures and continuously monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of our safeguarding measures.

2.3 Reporting and Responding: We have clear reporting procedures in place for anyone who suspects or becomes aware of any safeguarding concerns. We take all reports seriously and respond promptly, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to protect the individual(s) involved.

2.4 Confidentiality: We handle all safeguarding concerns with the utmost confidentiality, respecting the privacy and dignity of the individuals involved. Information is only shared on a need-to-know basis, and all relevant parties are informed in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

2.5 Training and Awareness: We provide training and support to our staff and volunteers, ensuring they are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities, understand the signs of abuse or harm, and know how to respond appropriately. We also raise awareness among our users about their rights, personal safety, and available support resources.

3. Roles and Responsibilities:

3.1 Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): We have appointed a Designated Safeguarding Lead who is responsible for overseeing our safeguarding policies, procedures, and practices. The DSL serves as the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken in response.

3.2 Staff and Volunteers: All staff and volunteers have a responsibility to report any safeguarding concerns to the DSL or a designated representative. They should follow the established procedures and cooperate fully with any investigations or actions taken.

3.3 Users and Parents/Guardians: Users, along with their parents/guardians in the case of minors, are encouraged to report any safeguarding concerns or incidents they may encounter during their engagement with our services. They should be aware of their rights and feel supported in seeking help or guidance.
