Participants start with essential digital marketing training before progressing to individual assignments and collaborative campaigns. The Hybrid Working Module provides experience of online meetings, digital collaboration, campaign planning, task management and presenting work remotely.

What Participants May Do

Participants can experience day-to-day activities commonly associated with digital marketing roles, such as:

  • Researching audiences, competitors and market trends
  • Creating content for websites, blogs and digital campaigns
  • Conducting keyword research and supporting SEO activities
  • Planning social media content and campaign calendars
  • Preparing email marketing campaigns
  • Writing engaging marketing copy and calls to action
  • Reviewing website and campaign performance
  • Producing reports and presenting marketing insights
  • Collaborating on promotional campaigns and content ideas

As participants develop their skills, they may progress to more advanced tasks involving SEO strategy, PPC campaign planning, audience segmentation, conversion optimisation, marketing analytics, campaign performance analysis and multi-channel digital strategies.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Learn about keywords, search intent, on-page optimisation, content improvement and techniques that can help websites improve their visibility in search engines.

Paid Digital Advertising (PPC)
Understand how paid advertising campaigns are structured, including audiences, keywords, advertising copy, budgets and performance measurement.

Content & Email Marketing
Explore how blogs, website content, newsletters and email campaigns can be used to engage audiences and support organisational goals.

Social Media Marketing
Develop content ideas, campaign plans and promotional strategies for different social platforms while learning how to evaluate engagement and audience response.

Marketing Analytics & Optimisation
Learn how marketers use data and performance indicators to measure campaigns, identify opportunities and improve future marketing activity—an important element of the existing JSTA course.

Practical Marketing Projects

Participants may put their skills into practice through individual or team projects such as:

  • SEO Project – Keyword research, website content reviews and optimisation recommendations
  • Digital Campaign – Planning an integrated promotional campaign for a product, service or initiative
  • Content Marketing Project – Creating blogs, website copy and other digital content
  • Email Campaign – Developing newsletters, audience messaging and campaign content
  • Social Media Campaign – Creating content calendars, posts and campaign concepts
  • Marketing Analytics Project – Reviewing campaign data and preparing performance reports

Where appropriate, practical activities may support JSTA initiatives, charities, community organisations, social enterprises or businesses, giving participants greater insight into how digital marketing contributes to real organisational objectives.

Developing Marketing & Workplace Skills

Alongside marketing knowledge, participants can strengthen creativity, communication, research, analytical thinking, teamwork, organisation, commercial awareness and presentation skills.

The programme can support those exploring pathways such as Digital Marketing Assistant, SEO Assistant, Content Marketing Assistant, PPC Assistant, Email Marketing Assistant, Marketing Executive, Campaign Assistant and other entry-level digital marketing roles.
